Workers Compensation Queensland is a compulsory Government insurance policy for employers to obtain for their own security and the worker with benefits if injured on the job.  There are various types of injuries that are covered if you have been injured at work such as;

  • repetitive strain injury,

  • head injury,
  • injury to the eye/s,
  • fractures,
  • chemical exposure,
  • disease,
  • psychological, bullying, harassment, discrimination,
  • fatality at work,
  • Journey claim – if you are on a direct route to or from work, or during work hours.

If you suffer an injury at work there may be entitlements accessible through Queensland Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.

  • hospital expenses,
  • rehabilitation treatment,
  • out of pocket expenses, such as travel and

  • visit your Doctor, report the injury and request a ‘Workers Compensation Medical Certificate’,

  • obtain medical evidence that shows your injury is directly related to your workplace,
  • lodge your ‘Application for Compensation’ with WorkCover Queensland if you will require time off work and medical treatment or rehabilitation,
  • seek legal advice before signing any legal document regarding your injury,
  • limitation Period for lodging your ‘Application for Compensation’ is 6 months from the Date of Injury,
  • if you have suffered a permanent injury and negligence, or fault due to unreasonable duty of care is identified than you might claim for ‘damages’ or a ‘Common Law Claim’ for significant compensation,
  • limitation period for a Common Law Claim is 3 years from the Date of Injury,
